Schooley Station: A proud heritage
The Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad began operations in Chillicothe,
Ohio in 1852, providing faster transport for freight and passengers
than the canal boats could offer. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad
took over the east-west trade in 1868. Schooley Station, named
for the first ticket agent and postmaster John Schooley, was established
in the early 1900s bringing much needed goods and commerce to the
Chillicothe, Ohio community.
Over the years, Schooley Station has been the base for many businesses
including Mead Corporation, which owned and operated the site for paper
and raw goods storage. In 2005, the complex was purchased by
Mark and Tamara Scott and re-established as a commercial warehousing
and distribution hub. |
